My Grandmother and I try to do this walk every year in honor of her dad/my great grandfather, Archie Renzelman who passed away August 21, 2011. He developed Alzheimer's late in life while still married to his wife Ramona, whilst living in Colorado. It was discovered when someone had seen him walking around town looking dazed and confused. He was eventually moved to a home and he went downhill pretty fast despite being in good physical condition. He recognized his wife for a long time (they had been married for 60+ years) and always smiled when the rest of the family visited. He couldn't tell us who we were but he knew we were family by the way he smiled. We want to try and make a difference and to do what we can to help others be able to avoid this issue with their loved ones. So we are asking for some donations to help in the research to help those with Alzheimer's, research is a lot of trial and error. None of which can be done without our help. A lot of folks think donating to some places is just a waste of money, especially when they had been asking for donations for so long. But science is complex! People with that kind of knowledge aren't exactly a dime a dozen. So realizing things take time, you have to make some mistakes to find the solutions.
