We are walking in memory of the family members who left us as a result of this terrible disease, those who care for those currently struggling with the disease, and for current members who may be at risk. The Statistics: Alzheimer's Disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the US - more than breast and prostate cancer combined. More than 6.7M Americans are living with Alzheimer's now, and over 14M are expected by 2060. 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer's or other dementia. Last year, more than 16M caregivers provided and estimated 18.6B hours of unpaid care. Alzheimer's and other dementias will cost the United States about $321 billion (with Medicare/aid covering only 2/3), not including care-giving. This number is projected to rise to more than $1.1 trillion in 2050.
