My mother, June, Is one of the many reasons I walk and raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, as captain of the team for Biltmore Lake. My mother was widowed at the age of 54 and really showed us her strength and determination making her way on her own for the rest of her life. I lost her to Alzheimer's at the age of 92 almost nine years ago. Watching this energetic, vibrant, independent woman slip away was heart-breaking. The picture is from a cruise we took with her. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
