My mom was my advocate. I'd get in trouble with the nuns at school because my knee socks would not stay up. They were always slouched around my ankles. I would get smacked with a yardstick each time they'd catch my socks around my ankles. My mom came to the school one day, knee socks pushed around her ankles saying "If you're going to hit her with a yardstick for her socks, you're going to have to hit me too". Wish she was still here to advocate on my behalf but Alzheimer's took her from me. Now I advocate for her and for everyone impacted by this dreadful disease.
