We will be Walking to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, September 23, 2023, in Springfield at Jordan Valley Park.

What a great year this has been, thanks to your donations and advocacy to fight this horrible disease!!!  

We have entered the Treatment Era!!!!

• FDA approval of Leqembi (lecanumab) on July 6, proven to slow cognitive decline in those with mild cognifve decline or early-stage Alzheimer's.
• CMS Medicare approval to cover PET scans for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's (10 years in the process!).
• CMS initiative to test a new model to streamline treatments and payment for those with dementia.  This was a legislative priority since 2020 (Comprehensive Care for Alzheimer's Act).

I lost my mom to Alzheimer's in 2005, too soon to see her grandchildren.  My sincere hope is that as we continue to fight this disease with research and new therapies, including early diagnosis and lifestyle changes, that many more people will have more quality time to enjoy their families and their interests, staying healthy longer.
