Welcome to our team, Jan's Butterflies, that we put together for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's Walk which is the largest event to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.  Currently, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and my mom was one of the many who were living with the disease until she passed away last November.

As many of you know my mom, Jan Hardcastle, fought a hard battle with Alzheimer's for more than 12 years.  As a daughter, it was terrible to watch as I lost my mom a little bit every year as the disease progessed.  I know my brother also struggled as he lost our mom.  It was even harder for my father as he tried desperately to hold onto his wife and continue their love story that they had started 69 years ago.  We did everything we possibly could for her to keep her comfortable and safe and loved, but eventually the disease won out.

If you knew my mom then you knew she loved the color yellow and she loved butterflies and that is why we decided to build our team, Jan's Butterflies.  We are honoring her and how my mom touched so many people throughout her life.  Now, every time I see a butterfly, I think of her and feel as though she is right beside me, guiding me on my way.  I've had many people tell me that now they feel as if they see butterflies quite often and I can't help but think that she is continuing to touch people in a new way.  So our team, Jan's Butterflies, is teaming up because we want to help as many people as we can so that someday we can conquer this disease and families will not have to go through the sorrows and struggles that our family lived through day in and day out.

We invite you, your family and friends to join our team in support of this amazing organization.  We hope that you will join us in the walk, but if you are unable or prefer not to walk then we welcome any donations you can make through our team in support of the Alzheimer's Association.
