In 2003 my grandma was diagnosed with alzheimers. We fought to keep her memories alive but over time they eventually faded away. It was hard to talk to her about all the things we used to do together because I was the only one who remembered. But we never gave up. We were by her side till her last breath March of 2013. As much as it hurt we know she is in a much better place now hurt free looking down on us. This will be our seventh year participating in this walk. The 2014 walk was even more special to us because the morning of, my Grandpa left his earthly home to join my Grandma up in Heaven.
But even though she is now pain free we still need your help. Every year I work to raise money and awareness to make a difference. I don't want others to have to feel the hurt and pain of their own grandmother not knowing who they are or all the fudgesicle eating memories like I did. So I just hope that everyone can come together and donate to help save memories. The movement starts with you.
I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research care and support.
Currently more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease the Association offers care education support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here.
