Read the book again.

You know, the one by Robert Munsch. The one that showed the child, grown up, taking care of the one person that took care of them. The one you wished & hoped & silently begged would never come true.

Read the book again. They NEED you to read it again.

Here's what I've learned as a young co-caregiver (we couldn't do this without you, Mom ❤):

• Learn to appreciate the sunrises, you're going to see them more often

• Hold on to the life around you. Theirs may be dying, but others around you are still growing into theirs.

• You'll skip forward as this process ages you, and that's ok. It teaches a lesson of maturity, more than anything.

• They say not to throw "I love you" around like it's candy. Do it. Their last breath could be today, tomorrow, soon, and you'll want to tell others all the time, because a new fear of losing anyone else will grow.

• Be patient, the person you are caring for reverts back to a "child-like" stage and they really don't know any better. You used to be there, let them be there. After all, there is child-like wonder in there, somewhere.

• Most importantly, as independent as YOU want to be, ask for help. This $h*t is hard.

Read the damn book again.
