This year my family and I are participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's in honor of my grandpa who passed away last April. Growing up, my grandma always did all the talking and by the time I was grown enough to truly appreciate my grandparents, my grandma had passed and my grandpa had shown signs of Alzheimer's. I was able to visit him a lot more as an adult and the company was always nice, but I never was able to tell what was a true story and what was fabricated. It never mattered though, because he enjoyed telling them. Near the end of his life, he was non-verbal and that was extra hard among other things, but the smile on his face and the twinkle in his bright blue eyes was always a promise that the visit was worth every second. On my wedding day I got to experience one of the best moments of my life with him. He was non-verbal at that time and after overcoming a panicked moment, he danced with me and sang along to the song. It was the only time I cried that day and it was big ugly tears and a moment I will never forget.
Your donation to my family's team in the Walk to End Alzheimer's is very much appreciated and we hope that science continues to progress so other families don't have to go through the journey we did.
