Patsy was first diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment in 2008. She was further diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in April of 2011. Patsy lost her Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother to Alzheimer's. She also lost two uncles, two aunts and a first cousin to the disease. When Patsy received her diagnosis she made the commitment that she would do whatever she could to further research into finding a cure. She was determined to help ensure that future generations would not have to endure an Alzheimer's journey with no hope for improvement or survival. As part of her commitment we participated in a clinical trial through the Mayo Clinic on an experimental medication. We further stayed on as patients in the Alzheimer's Disease Research Department so they could study the effects of the disease on Patsy.
Now, I am carrying on her commitment to finding a cure by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's through the Alzheimer's Association. I deeply appreciate all of the emotional support and financial contributions that we have received over the prior years of our participation. Through these acts of generosity we have helped to further research on a path to finding the cure. Thank you to everyone who has so graciously supported us in the past and whom continue to support us today.
