I have been on this Alzheimer's journey since 2006 when my Mother was diagnosed. She/we lived with this disease for 12 years. My husband was diagnosed in Oct of 2011, his journey lasted 8 years. Both were very different experiences. Every person with dementia just wants to be understood. I am the facilitator for the caregiver support groups in Flushing and Clio. Helping caregivers in their journey through this disease is the least I can do. They need to have a safe place to ask questions and just vent. I also participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer's to raise awareness.
