Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. So are we.
We are Team Lannie's Legacy. Yolanda "Lannie" Carlone was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She was proud of her Italian heritage and family. She had a contagious smile and distinct laugh. Grandma Lannie always greeted her grandchildren with a smile, hug, kiss, and kind words, usually telling us "I have the most beautiful grandchildren." We all have so many stories to share about our grandmother. She was the eldest of nine children. Having a large and close family was very special to her.
As she grew older, her family and friends watched as Alzheimer's slowly took over. Although she is no longer with us, we have decided her legacy lives on. We, her children and grandchildren, are her legacy. We were what she was most proud of. Alzheimer's may have impacted her memory, but the memories of Grandma Lannie live on through us.
We will fight to find a cure and end Alzheimer's once and for all. We are given one mind. We must use it, protect it, and fight for it.
