2024 is the year of hope!
In October 2023 Mark was found to be a candidate for the new FDA approved ground breaking Lecanemab infusion therapy (keeps new amyloid plaque from forming in the brain). After waiting eight long months our insurance company finally came through with their decision to cover the $26,500 a year drug.
Three months into the 18 month treatment Mark looks so much better and it is all in his eyes. They say that the eyes are the window to the soul so in my book it is a positive reflection of what is going on inside - I'll take this as a win!
The next monoclonal antibody infusion treatment Donanemab (removes existing amyloid plaque from the brain) has now received traditional FDA approval. Wouldn't it be great to be be able to also take advantage of this drug and give Alz the ole one-two punch?!?
In any event our journey moves forward and we continue to live life to the fullest each and every day as there are no guarantees for any of us.
