Our mother/grandmother, Jerri Minkin, is the sweetest, kindest, and most selfless person we know. Vascular Dementia has robbed her of her memories and independence. Yet she remains forever grateful and loving. She tells her family every day how happy and thankful she is to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Despite tremendous and insurmountable challenges, she says daily, "I am so lucky." Stripped to her most basic nature, our mother never speaks a negative word about another and remains positive, non-judgmental, kind, and full of love. She makes us laugh all the time, and she laughs along with us. While we know her disease is advanced and incurable, we do not want others to have to suffer the way we have. We are determined to end this terrible disease in all its varied forms.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, we are raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
