Hi my name is Belinda Castro and I have been a full time caregiver to my mother Carmen Castro since she suffered a stroke in May 2017 and was diagnosed with vascular dementia that has been a constant concern because of a family history of Alzheimer's. She's turning 87 this year and in memory of her mother, my grandmother Julia who passed away when I was very young from Alzheimer's we are leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating again in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's Cape Cod 2024 in Hyannis. We raised $1200 in donations last year, exceeding our goal of $1000, so this year we have set our goal once again at $1000 and with your support I know we can reach that goal again this year.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I am happy to announce that all 4 members of TEAM CASTRO, which includes myself, my mom Carmen Castro, Susan Rumson who is Tessa's original fur mom and Tessa Castro my GSD will all be participating this year. Susan will be pushing my mom in a wheelchair in order to allow her to participate in honor of her mother Julia and her own ongoing fight with dementia, while I walk beside them with Tessa my prospect service dog in training.
With your help we can end Alzheimer's disease, so lets continue giving until the end. Your donation will advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. NEVER FORGET!
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
