Welcome to the Scott-Farrar team page for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®! Our team is comprised of Scott-Farrar residents, family members and staff. Here's Why We Walk:
"I have walked and will continue to walk for my husband, Charlie." - Kathy Bruce, Resident
"I am walking because I love caring for the Alzheimer's community." - Jill Carmen, Dining Services Staff
"I walk for those we all love, for those who have suffered with this disease in the past, are suffering now, and for our future generations. That the keys to prevention and a cure may be found." - Cynthia Gaudreault, RN
"Aging is a natural part of life. People who are afflicted with Alzheimer's are robbed of the ability to age gracefully, as everyone deserves. This is why I walk." - Rory Hickey, Concierge Staff
"Throughout my nursing career I have had the pleasure of taking care of many people who have been affected by either Alzheimer’s disease or Dementia. I have seen the fear in their eyes, the anxiety they can never let go of, and the sadness they experience when not knowing or remembering important things. The mortality rate of this disease is rising every day. We may not have an answer or a way to cure it, but I am walking to promote the compassion that we can give in their most vulnerable time of need." - Martha Teixeira, LPN
"Although there are so many amazing memories, good days, laughs and fun with residents I have had the pleasure of experiencing over my thirty-five years of working with seniors, there are also so many difficult days. My hope is there is a day that all seniors and families don't have to experience those days ever again. I want them all to have the amazing days they truly deserve." - Angela Pelletier, Executive Director
"As the Memory Care Director at Scott-Farrar, I see the end results of Alzheimer's disease. I see the pain of families who are at a loss of how to help their loved ones. Although residents may not be able to remember their families or events, they are able to continue to express joy, laughter and other emotions. I walk to support my residents and their families. I recognize the courageous lives they live. My hope is that with research and discoveries they will bring new treatments and prevention of dementia." - Sharon Schuttauf, Memory Care Director
"I walk to Honor all those who are currently fighting this extremely unkind disease, and in Memory of my grandmother, and all others who lost their fight, while waiting for a cure." - Robin Quinn, Business Office Director
