If you didn't know, my family been more touched by dementia than most. We lost my dad to Alzheimers and Parkinsons in 2019, and my Aunt Dottie to Lewy Body Dementia last December. My sister and I helped my mom take care of my dad, and Dottie was with me for almost the last three years of her life. Previously we also lost my father's mother to Alzheimers and his two sisters to early onset dementia. It's been a reoccurring nightmare and I can honestly say there are not many things more heartbreaking than watching someone you love slowly loose themselves.
I don't know if there will ever be a cure for any of the seven or so types of dementia, but we must keep on trying and in the mean time we need support systems in place to those who care for dementia patients. It truly is one of the hardest jobs on earth. Please consider supporting me in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, this cause touches so many lives that are in need of it.
Thank you!
