An Activity Assistants point of view:
I’ve learned that Alzheimer’s affects more than just the person living with the disease. It is an insidious force; it affects everyone caring for, or about, the person with this disease.
As I have worked in Memory Care I have seen my beloved resident’s families suffer as they watch their loved ones’ minds fade and memories disappear. We have to fight for those families who endure the debilitating weight of watching the person they love vanish without actually dying. I have discovered a new form of heartbreak that millions have experienced.
Millennials must make Alzheimer’s disease a priority or we are destined to inherit this disease in mounting proportions. I have faith that a cure will be found. It takes a lot of funding and research, but I believe that if everyone who has any connection to Alzheimer’s would talk and spread the word by advocating on behalf of their loved one, the cure might come faster
We need to fight for all those people who can no longer speak for themselves. Life is about creating ever-lasting memories, and my wish is that we all are able to remember those memories when it’s our time to leave this earth.
Help future generations and donate to this important cause today.
