I'm Walking for My Dad
My name is Shannon, and I am one of Phil Watts' three daughters. I want to share a bit about my dad and our journey as a family through his battle with dementia.
My dad, Phil, is an incredible man. He has always been a talented craftsman, sailor, handyman, and avid reader. He has been a wonderful father to my sisters, Lisa and Andrea, and me, and a loving grandfather to his six grandchildren. My whole life, he has demonstrated great care in everything he touched - from building a house to building deep relationships. He has taught me so much - always encouraged me to travel, try new things, explore my creativity, and mostly to be a hard worker who shows up for my family.
A few years ago, our world changed when my dad was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and, later, Lewy Body Dementia. This disease has taken away so many of the things my dad once enjoyed and excelled at. It makes communication difficult and often causes him confusion. Watching my dad struggle has been one of the hardest things our family has ever faced.
But through it all, my mom, Sue, has been a beacon of strength and love. Her care for my dad is nothing short of amazing. She has stood by his side every step of the way, providing unwavering support and finding ways to bring moments of joy into his life. Her dedication and love for my dad are truly inspiring.
We are walking for my dad to raise money in the fight against dementia. This disease has affected our family deeply, and we want to do everything we can to help others who are facing similar challenges. By supporting our cause, you can help fund crucial research and support services for individuals and families impacted by dementia.
Please join us in supporting my dad and countless others by donating to our team. Every contribution brings us one step closer to finding a cure and improving the lives of those living with dementia. Your generosity and support mean the world to us.
Please donate to help support dementia research in support of Phil.
With heartfelt thanks,
Shannon
