H plus 65 minutes, and this is what it looked like from the bridge of an LCI L heading into Omaha Beach, E Z Red Sector, on D Day. The guns on the high ground had zeroed in precisely. Preston Barry was on this ship and got through the day with "only" some German- manufactured metal that he carried for the rest of his life. He survived D Day, but did not survive Alzheimer's. Please consider supporting the battle with this disease, which exacts a staggering financial and emotional toll on our society, and will only do more damage as we all live longer lives due to improvements in other areas of medicine.
