I am walking to honor James "Daddo" Comeau (August 23, 1950 - August 14, 2024).
My dad had cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), which caused dementia over the last 10+ years of his life. Even as his illness progressed, his deep sense of compassion, responsibility and respect for everyone he encountered lived on in him. I walk to both honor my Daddo and to support those currently moving through the complicated ups and downs dementia brings to one's life and family.
