Families facing Alzheimer’s need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them.
My family is one that has been facing this terrible evil and your support means the world to me. On behalf of myself, my family and most importantly, my mother, I thank you for giving.
My mom is an extremely talented writer. I'd like to share a poem I have written in her honor.
"Mother"
You see my face but know not who I am.
My eyes are familiar, the tone of my skin.
Where does one memory end and another begin?
A friendly girl, a helping hand,
The daughter of the owner of the Inn
Life often isn’t as we have planned.
We have the same name, isn’t that funny?
The same schools too, how could that be?
Neighborhood strolls and porch afternoons
Chocolate chip cookies and cups of tea
Capturing memories under a cloud of doom.
Memories to make a dark future sunny.
A smile arises at the thought of my name.
And yet, the face in front of you is not the same.
My accomplishments you can adoringly recite,
But tell you it is me, and it gives you a fright.
The resume of my life, all known by heart
I hold back my tears, as the pain tears me apart.
It is not about me now; I am beginning to accept.
Your safety, your comfort, it is simple, this we must protect.
