Support our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research..
My family walks for Mary Cassel who died of Alzheimer's. She was wonderfully independent. She lost her husband at 51 years of age and lived to be 83 dying on her birthday. She continued to work from home after she retired. She traveled, took care of grandchildren and was very active in her church. When she was 78 we started noticing that the wonderful women we knew was losing her cognitive abilities. Soon she had to go to a nursing home. At first she could talk but couldn't remember but the disease traveled swiftly and before long she could only babble. It was very hard to see her that way. We miss her very much.
