Hello, I am Mary Strickland Murphy, Captain of Team Strickland/ Brangers , Again this year we are walking in remembrance of my Dad, Robert Strickland, my momma, Celestine (Sunny), my Gramma Marion Alling, my aunt Jody Morgan, aunt Irene McCrumb who, had Lewy body Dementia, and my aunt Agnes Small, who has Parkinson's Dementia and others in the family who are suffering from this disease and any other form of Dementia. My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's when he was 65. He passed away from this heartbreaking disease at 72. We slowly watched him go from a smart, energetic, loving man to a person that no longer knew his family or friends, wandering from home, to not being able to stand much less walk. Momma was diagnosed at 84 and passed away at 86. The woman who loved and raised 8 children, stood by her husband of 53 yrs. and took care of him through his battle of Alzheimer's. Many people in the community knew and loved my Momma and my Dad. We are raising funds and awareness so someday no family has to go through this horrible disease or any other forms of Dementia. I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide. The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with us.
