I am walking in memory of my dad, Delano "Dee" Burgess, who was diagnosed with Cognitive Memory Impairment in his early 70's and died in 2009 right after his 84th birthday. I am also walking in honor of my mom, Mildred "Millie" Burgess, who was diagnosed with Dementia in 2010 and died in 2023 at 98 years old after living in a long-term care facility for almost 8 years.
Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia aren't stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
