My name is Kimberly Turpin and this is my story.
My mother, Barbara Turpin, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in the fall of 2022. By the time she was diagnosed she was in the middle going into the late stages of the disease. The past two years we have seen things progress pretty quickly with the disease and unfortunately she is now in the late stages of the disease.
Being a caregiver and working full time is not always easy. We as a family are trying our best to honor mom and her wishes by keeping her in her home. The journey of being a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer's is not for the faint of heart and has taught me many life lessons. Being patient, kind and forgiving of things I cannot control. Appreciating everyday that I have with my mother. Living in the moment because that is all we have. But most importantly leaning into my faith to get me through the long, dark days of this disease.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s in October, I’m raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
So I ask you to please, in honor of my mother or someone you may love or have loved that lost their battle to this disease, to make a donation to help us fight to end Alzheimer's. Hopefully one day we won't have to walk and a cure will be found.
Thank you for your support, Kimberly Turpin
