Alzheimer’s was the diagnosis my mom received at 62 years old. I hated the disease as it began to take bits and pieces of her away. Her grandchildren missed out on so many memories of their grandma, and my husband never knew her without the disease. The devastation of her diagnosis was made worse when my dad, her caregiver, was diagnosed with an aggressive stomach cancer. I now know that 40% of dementia caregivers die before the people they are caring for, but at that time I simply knew that my world was falling apart and my parents who I loved were going to be gone way too soon. I blame Alzheimer's for the death of both of my parents. It is an insidious disease that effects entire families in devastating ways. Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease. Thank you!
