At just 19 years old, I experienced the profound loss of my Grandma Baer to dementia. She was not only smart and bold, but also my hero. Over 4 agonizing years, I witnessed dementia strip away everything from my Grandma - her love for playing bridge, the recognition of her children, and, eventually, even essential human functions we often take for granted.
As a woman, I face a 1 in 5 chance of developing Alzheimer's or another dementia. My husband's odds are 1 in 10. To shield our future grandchildren from the devastation Alzheimer's brought into my life, I am committed to doing everything in my power to #ENDALZ
