The impact of Alzheimer's and dementia is inescapably great. It seems nearly everyone has a personal story or connection to the disease, and I am no exception. My grandfather passed away after his long battle with dementia, as did my wife's grandmother. We were fortunate in both cases that they both still maintained some memory of their loved ones, but it was nonetheless heartbreaking to witness them lose a sense of themselves.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
If you're reading this, you likely know someone who was or is affected by this terrible disease--perhaps someone very close to you. If you can, please consider making a donation in their name to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
