This is personal for me. My Mom has been living with Alzheimer's Dementia for several years and is in stage 6/7 now. Dad has been living with Vascular Dementia for about 3 years now and although his symptoms are much like those of my Mom, I can see him slipping away from me at a much more rapid rate. As an only child and having always been a true Momma's boy, it's very hard to watch my #1 fan and cheerleader slowing drifting away right before my eyes. I now have a much stronger awareness of the impact Alzheimer's and other forms of Dementia can have on a family and their caregivers.

This is why I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating as the Comittee Chair in the Alzheimer's Association 2021 Kokomo Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
