Welcome to our team page for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®!

Team Hoopy & D.O. is a tribute to two great local Tri-State local Icons, Hoopy(William Gully) and D.O.(Dennis Oliver). With almost 95% of the dollars raised from our team at the walk event stays local. It is an event we fully get behind and support for a disease that being the Team founder have seen first hand with many family members including my Grandfather who is one of the ones we honor in our team name.

Hoopy(William Gully) a nickname of my Grandfathers has been a large part through the years of supporting and getting behind many local Alzheimer's fundraising events through out the years. He battled it for many years, longer than many but he was always awnry so I am pretty sure between that and my Grandmother was one of the many reasons he was able to fend off defeat for so long. But at the same time would not say was a total defeat, he was a prime example of what some experimental drugs at the time they been developing also seem to help in the process.

We also honor the all time local radio Great D.O.(Dennis Oliver) known for an upbeat charismatic go go fun radio personality and great guy even off the air. When Dennis was diagnosed with Alzheimer's with some persuasion of another local radio great Jeff Dorsey pushing the issue knowing the value that it would help the local community bring awareness even more to the disease he got Dennis to take on the role of being a voice/spokesperson for our local Alzheimer's Association along with the Walk Event knowing he could attract the people in. With his passing in December 2023 D.O. was a big inspiration in another event fundraiser with the first inaugural Tribute to D.O."lets have some fun!" Mardi Gras party at ONE event center in February 2024. Was a great time and be on the lookout for the events return date in 2025!

There are millions of more reasons than these two to help in the cause but these two helped start the inspiration to help millions. So even if it is only $1 it will be just as greatly appreciated as any other amount imaginable to help fight the cause to develop a cure to help us in ending the battle of Alzheimer's. When making a donation put it in a loved ones name you may have battling the disease or have lost to the disease, if do not want to be known anonymous does the same. We are all on the same team in this battle to end Alzheimer's,

In closing we are going to leave you with two great quotes from the Greatest Coach of all time the Legendary Pat Summit who battled Alzheimer's herself, they both can relate to this horrid disease and one of them is in regards to Alzheimer's

"Winning is fun.. Sure. But winning is not the point. Wanting to win is the point. Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you've won is the point"

"Have you ever walked along a shoreline, only to have your footprints washed away? That's what Alzheimer's is like. The waves erase the marks we leave behind, all the sand castles. Some days are better than others"

She is not wrong, but lets work on making all days better! our team quote
