There are many reasons to join a community with a single purpose. My reasons are personal, and they involve a close relative and a close friend, both of whom spent their final days unaware of their surroundings and blind to those who loved them.
In our family, stories of Maggie Sheahan and Genevieve Hubner (Sue’s Mom) highlight the devastating effects of Alzheimer's on individuals and their families. It's a cruel disease that robs people of their memories, their independence, and eventually, their lives.
So we walk. We walk to make a difference. We walk to recognize the significance of Alzheimer's and the importance of supporting initiatives like the Walk to End Alzheimer's. By joining together as a community, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disease and work towards finding better treatments and ultimately a cure.
I encourage everyoner eading this message to consider joining your team, donating, or participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's event. And perhaps, share your story.
Every contribution, whether big or small, brings us closer to a future where Alzheimer's is no longer a threat.
Thank you for your advocacy and for shining a light on this important cause.
