In the quiet journey of Alzheimer's Disease, it feels like a departure in small steps. Gradually, those diagnosed with this relentless condition slip away, leaving us a little more each day, week by week.
We noticed hints of forgetfulness in my grandpa for a while, but since his official diagnosis last year, the losses have been more pronounced. Memories fade, teasing a return before slipping even further away. Conversations are a puzzle, with multiple words spoken, often lacking context.
Despite these challenges, every moment spent with him is a gift I cherish. There's a connection that persists, even as memories, names, and the routine of everyday life slip through the cracks.
I yearn for a future where this heartache doesn't echo for generations to come. That's why, this September, I'm stepping up for the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Chicago!
The funds raised for the Alzheimer's Association play a crucial role, directly supporting Alzheimer's Care, providing crucial support, funding research, and spreading awareness and advocacy. Research is the key – the necessary funds could pave the way for the first cured patient.
I kindly ask for your support in this endeavor. Please consider making a donation to my fundraiser. Every amount, no matter how small, is genuinely appreciated.
Thank you for being a part of the solution and joining me in the fight against Alzheimer's.
