The Walk to End Alzheimer's is September 28th this year at Southwind Park in Springfield. We decided to revive our team this year and join the walk to honor our dad, Bob (Robert E Dorr-RED Team). Since the RED team last participated in the walk, Bob has passed due to this horrible disease. As broken as our hearts have been without him, he taught us about hope and trust and that an opportunity for a better day is coming, maybe today! Bob was active most of his life so it seemed only fitting that a walk was the best way to honor him and others living with this disease that has interrupted their lives. Bob was upbeat most days, cracking silly jokes and thinking of a future. Other days he was not sure what he did wrong to bring such limits on the life he once knew. His mind would crowd with thoughts and ideas he didn't understand yet he still genuinely loved being with people and almost always asked "what they've been doing for kicks". Many of us know the devastation this disease can bring not only upon the patient, but the entire family. We decided to join the Walk this year knowing that families like ours are facing many varying issues directly related to Alzheimer’s and all other dementias. Please consider joining the RED Team on walk day or possibly making a donation to our team if walking isn't for you. We appreciate any contributions but we know that we are all asked to give to many causes every year and cannot possibly give to them all. If you aren't able to help this year, maybe just a little prayer for all that are living with Alzheimer's and/or effected by the disease, that a cure is just around the corner.
Thank you for your consideration!
