I very recently lost my son-in-law, who dedicated 27 years as a law enforcement officer. At early retirement, his plan was to work part time as a clerk for a local judge, then travel and enjoy life with my daughter, his wife.. That dream was cut short when he was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's. I was (am still am) angry to have watched someone full of life and caring and hard work and dedication have to face Alzheimer's. I was (and still am) angry that my daughter looked so forward to their being able to do many things while still young enough. And even though she loved him so much, and was prepared and determined to make this journey with him, only 5 years later, at age 58, he lost the fight, it's just not fair. And so I will Walk to END Alzheimer's, and pray for the first actual survivors of this disease that takes lives long before their final breath. I hope to honor him, memorialize him, We can no longer provide care and support, but we CAN Walk to End Alzheimer's, we CAN raise funds for the fight.
