In early 2016, Jeanne saw a neurologist because she had noticed she was having memory issues and they were getting progressively worse over the past year. She was concerned that she was having trouble remembering conversations with her husband, Bob. Jeanne knew that she needed to take more detailed notes when making arrangements and navigating while driving was starting to get challenging. She also noticed she sometimes needed to double and triple-check a recipe while cooking and baking. Extensive testing indicated Jeanne had mild cerebral atrophy which is suggestive of a mild neurocognitive disorder. After regular follow-up visits a couple of years later, Jeanne was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.
For 7 more years after her diagnosis, Jeanne happily lived at home with her husband, Bob. During her last year at home, she attended the daycare program at Anam Memory Care and in May 2023 Jeanne became a full-time resident where she continues to reside and receive excellent care. As Jeanne continues to progress with Alzheimer's she has recently started hospice care.
