In 2019, I lost my only sister, Barbara, to Alzheimers but I was inspired to start my Walk team in 2016 when I learned about the effects dementia and Alzheimer's can have on a family. For 2 years I didn't see my sister because of Alzheimer's and the secrets and devastation we allowed it to bring to our family. So, precious time was lost that I could have spent with her. Don't let that happen in your family. Look for the signs, then work together to keep relationships and support for the caregiver and the ALZ sufferer positive. I honor both my brother-in-law and my sister for doing all they could to survive this horrible disease together.
The Walk to End Alzheimers means Hope for a cure, new medications, and the need for research. The Walk also means a chance to Never Forget those we have lost to ALZ. I dream of day to have a chance to carry a White Flower - the first person to have been cured! Imagine a world without Alzheimer's!
