My dad was an amazing person who always treated everyone with kindness and respect. He had a great sense of humor and was the best dad and grandpa anyone could ask for. When he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, he remained determined to fight it, even though we knew it was a tough battle. Watching him gradually lose his abilities and memories was heartbreaking. We had to take on the role of being his voice and advocates, which became increasingly important as his condition progressed. When he passed away, he did it on his own terms, just like he always did. He fought this disease bravely, and we are walking to support finding a cure. My hope is that one day, Alzheimer's will be a thing of the past, and no other families will have to endure the pain that so many are going through now.
By participating in the Alzheimer's Walk to End Alzheimer's, we are raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease - funds that allow the Alzheimer's Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
