I'm walking to fight this disease as it has taken so many of those close to me. It is hard to see the one person you could always go to suddenly not even know who you are. Hard to understand why all of a sudden they refer to you as the person who says they love me, but I haven't met them yet. Or to watch them wither away and look totally different because of their brain.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association.
Our team motto is "Send the light, Find a cure!" This comes from the Missions hymn, Send the Light, the hymn that was basically a theme song for Rev. Rains' church, Grace Baptist, in St. Louis.
We also wish to adopt #143. Although our page states a few with Alzheimer's, we like to think that all who suffer are loved. This number has a wonderful meaning. The story behind it was an idea from Mr. Rogers. I has 1 letter, Love has 4, and You has 3. Hence, 143= I love you.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
