On September 21st, I will once again be participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® in Chicago. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. There has to be a way to alter the course of this disease and this annual Walk is just one event that can help us get there.
This disease became a part of my life when my mother-in-law, Charlotte, was diagnosed in the summer of 2018. Since that time, we have seen what Alzheimer's can do to a person's mind, spirit, and body. Mom has been robbed of her memories and who she used to be and she continues to be moved deeper and deeper into her own "world". However, Alzheimer's will NEVER affect her heart or who she is deep down.
The Chicago Walk will bring together all of those who are affected in some way by Alzheimer's. Flowers will be raised for those battling, those caring for the inflicted, and for those that have passed. We will be walking that day to honor Mom and all of those who suffer. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Your support through a donation of any amount will be so appreciated and will help us continue to battle this disease and hopefully, someday, erase it forever.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's and for supporting me and my mother-in-law! It is truly appreciated!!
