Alzheimer's disease impacts more than 300,000 Edward Jones clients, double what we estimated just a couple years ago. It's a devastating disease with no known cure. More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's today. And it's one of the most expensive diseases, with a lifetime cost of care of more than $350,000.
Alzheimer's hits us right where we live: destroying the wealth and well-being of our clients, our colleagues and our communities. But we are hitting back hard.
About a year ago, Edward Jones doubled down on our commitment to the Alzheimer's Association - pledging $25 million over five years on top of the $25 million we'd already raised in the first five years of our strategic alliance.
Even more exciting? $6 million of that will fund groundbreaking research thatcould lead to new treatments and, we hope, a cure. The recent news that the FDA approved a new drug - the first ever to slow the progression of Alzheimer's - offers hope to those with Alzheimer's. This treatment is groundbreaking, but it is only one step in our fight to find a cure.
