I walk in honor of my Grandma Harriet. She was a woman on a mission. Always had somewhere to go or something to do. She was very active in her community, her church and loved her family more than anything.
Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. She would tell stories about how she didn't care what her kids did for any other holiday, but for Thanksgiving...you come home. And we did. Every year we'd make the 4 hour drive up to NW Iowa to see her and she would have all of the family there helping to prep the meal. It was the one time every year my brother and I would see our aunt and uncles, cousins, and other relatives. When it was time to leave everyone and we made our way around giving hugs and telling everyone we loved them, when we got to grandma her response to us was always, " I love you more!"
In November 2022, we lost Grandma Harriet at 94 years young. She past right before Thanksgiving, which made our family come together again, but for a different kind of celebration.
To honor Grandma Harriet, I walk for Team Love you more in honor of her.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you!
