In April 2016 I lost my mother, Frances Parks-Reid, to complications of dementia. Since that time I have worked to raise funds in the fight to eradicate all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's. Some progress has been made. It is wonderful that blood tests can now detect certain plaques in the brain and that researchers better understand why the disease varies from person to person. Also, there are new drugs that can slow the progress of the disease in early stages. However, there is still no cure for this dreadful disease! We need more research!
Therefore, on September 28, 2024 I will once again join the Walk to End Alzheimer's as captain of "Team Frances" in honor of my mother.
Please support my efforts by contributing to "Team Frances". Thank you
