Hi my name is Sheldon Hudlin and our team is called Memory Savers. I am raising money for the Alzheimer's Association. Did you know that there are more people killed each year from Alzheimer's and other Dementias than breast and prostate cancer combined? Alzheimer's disease is a brain disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. It's the most common type of dementia. Alzheimer's disease is a progressive disease that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills. It begins with mild memory loss and can eventually lead to loss of the ability to carry on a conversation and respond to the environment. Other symptoms include: Behavioral changes, such as moodiness, apathy, changes in personality, unsocial behaviors, and language difficulty, changes in personality, and difficulty controlling emotions. For most people with Alzheimer's, symptoms first appear later in life. Symptoms eventually grow severe enough to interfere with daily tasks. This awful disease is near and dear to my heart as I lost my mother to it in 2018. Although I have the stats for the entire state of GA I want to bring your attention to my county. As of 2020 there are about 21,400 people 65 or over with 2500 cases of Alzheimer's in Houston County GA. This means 11.7% of the people I shop with, eat with, and go to church with will start losing their precious memories leading up to something much worst. I am not ok with that and I need your help. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the GA Chapter and the Walk to End Alzheimer's committee for Central GA.
