Team "Turn the Paige" on Alzheimer's is walking for Paige McDougald. Paige is 61 years old and now stage 7 under HOSPICE care at home. Paige was diagnosed in 2018. However, symptoms of the disease were evident in early 2017. Paige has a history of Alzheimer's in her family, as her father suffered and passed from the disease in 2014 at the age of 78. She also had a 2nd cousin who mirrored her father's progression and passed away a week before him.
Paige has been married to Mark McDougald, her primary caregiver, for 39 years. They have lived in Woodstock for almost the entirety of these years. Paige & Mark have three children: Lauren (38), Macey (35), and Collin (30); they have four Grandchildren: Amelia (11), Eli (9), Lewis (4), and Lillian Paige (2).
Paige was born in Atlanta, grew up, and spent most of her life before marriage in Roswell, Georgia. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1981. Her passions were her children and grandchildren, and she was a full-time mom for most of her married life. Paige worked part-time in the back office of the Resurgens Roswell Surgery Center for nearly 20 years up until 2020. She loved to plan and coordinate parties and dinners for work, church, schools, and friends/family weddings. She is a believer in Jesus Christ and was active in church life at both Mountain View UMC (Marietta) and Hickory Flat UMC (Canton) through the years; her other passions were playing Tennis; she played ALTA women's and USTA through Harrison Park. She loved the beach and traveled often to the Destin, FL, area to enjoy her feet in the sand. Most of all, she loved family getting together for birthdays or holidays.
The one thing that everyone says about Paige is that she has a beautiful smile. While the journey with this disease is never easy, Paige has always tried to maintain the best attitude during this time. Her family and friends walk in her honor and name, praying one day, no one else will have to walk this path.
