In 2020, after living with progressively deteriorating dementia for 15 years, my grandmother passed away. Shortly after, a representative from the Alzheimer's Association reached out asking me to support the Walk to End Alzheimer's. After learning about the resources, support, and research provided by the Alzheimer's Association, I knew I needed to get involved.
I always thought I didn't have the time to volunteer or get involved in a cause and that even if I did, I couldn't make a difference. I was wrong! If you find something that touches your heart, you will find the time and you will make an impact. Getting involved with the walk has allowed me the opportunity to make sure other families know about the resources available, raise funds to find treatments and ultimately a cure, and engage my co-workers who have been impacted by this disease.
Given the fact that 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer's or dementia and it kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined, I am betting this disease has touched many of your hearts. Families facing Alzheimer's and all other dementia need us now more than ever - and with your help, we can be there for them. Please follow your heart and join my walk team, make a donation, and/or raise your hand to volunteer. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
