See my Mom's story on our Team Page. I miss my dearest Mother. It has now been 4.5 year's since her passing! I can't believe it. We are finally officially out of lockdowns. Thank goodness. The excruciating pain, suffering and fear caused by lockdowns was most difficult for those suffering dementia and Alzheimer's as well as unimaginable loss of life during the COVID years. Without the Adult day/respite care for memory loss patients, family and friends visiting homes and nursing homes, and other relief and soothing for both patients and caregivers, the fear, hurt and tears must have been tremendous. Possibly irrecoverable. It continues to break my heart. It is so important to continue to fund research to cure this horrible disease, as well as continuing to fund caregiver resources (education and respite care). I will continue to tell my story of my Mother in her honor and to try to help what little I can to make life better for those impacted by Alzheimer's. As you know, after my Mother's death, I realize I have been mourning the loss for years of the Mother I knew growing up as this disease robbed her and me of her advice, wisdom and deep conversations we should have had time to have. I realized this too late. She still had love and laughs and I thank the Lord for that everyday. Your donation will help to find a cure for this horrible disease and provide support for the caregivers who sacrifice so much to care for their loved ones, at the expense of their own health. It will support finding a cure and for enrichment programs reduce fear, increase joy, and make them smile and laugh. My Mother really enjoyed Joe's Club https://myjoesclub.org/ adult day care supported by the Brevard Alzheimer's Foundation, Inc. (BAFI) and it gave my father 5 hours a day during the week to take care of the household, shop, clean, cook and rest in preparation for very long nights caring for my Mother. They only asked for a nominal fee which made it affordable for my parents. This Alzheimer's day care saved my father's life as he previously ran himself into the ground in exhaustion. It increased my Mother's joy as she declined. Thank you all again for supporting my walk.
