Team Louise is walking again this year! My mom, Louise Hall is bravely battling Alzheimer’s disease. She has been in this battle since ~2012. She is doing her best everyday with trying to enjoy her grandkids and the two dogs she has to deal with in our home! She now goes to the senior center 2 days a week at their Adult Day Center. They have activities, food and people her age, so she is really enjoying it. She never remembers anything she does at this point. She usually forgets my Dad is in heaven, so that is challenging. She sometimes thinks he is in Alaska taking care of his parents. There are days where we just agree with her. She has good and bad days, sometimes so tired she sleeps until noon. I tease her that she is like a teenager. She recognizes all of us, but sometimes just doesn't know the girls names. She sometimes has days where she just says, "tell me what to do". She is doing her best everyday though it must be stressful to have to ask questions about everything. This disease is absolutely horrible and better treatments and hopefully a cure needs to happen in our lifetime. Imagine, watching your beloved parent slowly fade away and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Please consider participating with us by walking, donating and sharing the passion needed around finding better treatments and a cure! Hopefully, my mom, Louise, will be one of the last people to have to deal with this burden. Hope to see you at the walk!
