As many of you are well aware, my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in early 2021 and we’ve been on quite the heartbreaking journey since. In 2022, we had to make the difficult decision to move my dad to a memory care unit as it was clear he was no longer safe at home. His forever home, (Larmax Homes in McLean, VA) has been the biggest blessing to my dad and our family, and while it is difficult to see him rapidly decline, we are comforted in knowing he is receiving the best care and is safe.
These past four years have proven to be huge learning (and growing) years for the Taylor family. We have had to adapt, improvise, sacrifice, and empathize with a disease that shows no mercy to its victims nor its victim's families. A progressive and neurodegenerative disease, Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, and it is the only disease among the top 10 causes of death that cannot be prevented, cured, or even slowed. While we can’t go back in time and fix those who have already been diagnosed, we can still unite in a movement to reclaim the future of millions. That is why we walk. On September 28th, we will be walking in my dad’s honor and we welcome you to join us!
Last year, #TEAMTAYLOR raised over $46,000! We were the number 2 fundraising team on walk day and finished in the top 5 of DC fundraising teams for the 2023 walk! This year, we are setting our fundraising goal for $50,000 and hope to surpass that!
With the help of some DC sports legends we have decided to raffle off some awesome prizes and we hope these will incentivize you to consider giving to a cause that is so important to our family.
- If you donate $150 or more, you’ll be entered for a chance to win one of the following 3 items: a signed puck by TJ Oshie, a signed puck by Nicklas Backstrom or a signed baseball by Ryan Zimmerman! For every $150 you donate, you'll gain another entry into this raffle
- If you donate $350 or more, you’ll be entered for the chance to win a #11 Nats jersey signed by none other than World Series Champion, Ryan Zimmerman! For every $350 you donate, you’ll get another entry into this raffle!
