My mom is battling Alzheimer’s. This is not her first round with this disease. She fought alongside her own mother who passed away in 2010. We all fight with her, but it’s a disease that currently has no cure which means that, while we fight with grace and dignity, we will ultimately lose.
Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease that slowly (or quickly) takes away your past, present, and future all at once. It is about so much more than memory. A person with Alzheimer's may experience confusion, depression, anger, and hallucinations and eventually, loss of movement, difficulty eating and swallowing and many other physical manifestations of the disease. As Mom progresses and fights hard, we see Alzheimer's gradually taking away the person we know and love.
I am joining Mom’s caregivers to raise funds and awareness to support patients and families on this fight. Please consider a donation. Together we can end Alzheimer's disease. Thank you!
